What Happened to Cigna Medicare Supplement Plans?
Cigna no longer sells Medicare Supplement (Medigap) coverage. Here is who holds those policies now, and how to compare what is available in Florida for 2026.
Cigna sold its Medicare business to HCSC
In March 2025, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) completed its acquisition of The Cigna Group's Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Medicare Part D and CareAllies businesses. Cigna is no longer the company behind those products.
The Medicare Supplement block moved to Medco Containment Life Insurance Company, an HCSC subsidiary. HCSC markets its Medicare products nationally under the HealthSpring brand, which is what is being offered for the 2026 plan year.
If you already have a Cigna Medigap policy
HCSC has said the sale did not cancel existing policies and that coverage continues unchanged. In practice that means you keep your plan letter and benefits, and you keep paying premiums as billed - but correspondence, ID cards and billing now come from the new company name rather than Cigna.
If you have received a notice and are not sure what it means, call us and we will read it with you. A name change on its own is not a reason to switch plans - but it is a reasonable moment to check whether your premium is still competitive.
If you are shopping for Medigap in Florida now
Medigap benefits are standardized by plan letter, so a Plan G is the same coverage no matter whose name is on it. What differs is price and rate history. Compare current Florida rates side by side:
